Why 10 Pro Teams Train Here: The Ultimate Guide to Cycling in Costa Blanca

When you picture the perfect setting for cycling, what comes to mind? For most, it's the vast expanse of the sea nearby, a coastal road with impeccable asphalt, and plenty of sunshine lighting up the winding road ahead.

This is exactly what cycling in Costa Blanca delivers.

With more than 300 days of sunshine per year, stunning mountain climbs, and relaxing coastal flats, this region is a cyclist's paradise. There is a route to suit every possible level, from amateur enthusiast to pro.

Although the peak seasons are spring and autumn, with the right equipment, you could comfortably enjoy cycling here 320 days per year. It's no wonder the region is the preferred training ground for the cycling elite—10 out of 18 pro teams chose Costa Blanca for their training camps.

Bike Rental in Costa Blanca: What if I Don't Have a Bike?

Worried about the hassle of bringing your own bike? Don't be. With hundreds of bike shops in the region offering rentals, service, and even guided tours at reasonable prices, you might find it easier and cheaper to rent.

Many bike rental shops even offer a service to deliver the rented bicycle straight to your hotel door.

You'll find a wide variety of bikes for hire:

Gravel bikes

Road bikes (endurance and racing)

Mountain bikes

Aero bikes

For an added charge, you can often upgrade to a higher-end groupset (like Shimano Ultegra or Dura-Ace) and a lighter frame. It's the perfect chance to test-ride the same top-tier components the pros use.

The only limiting factors are your legs and your budget. But considering that bike rentals in Calpe are, on average, 2 to 3 times cheaper than in London, your budget will stretch a lot further. Time to focus on your legs!
